What forms do I need to fill out for my child to be tested weekly for COVID-19 at school?


You will need to register your students once, by following the instructions provided here (English) and here (Español).

You can also find a video, explaining how to register for testing, here.

If you are unable to register online, contact Mira Vista’s front office if you need assistance with the LSA registration process.
Once you have completed the registration, your students will be tested each Tuesday.

From the WCCUSD website:
LSA [Laboratory Services of America] provides a one-time registration process online. Visit the Covid Testing webpage on the District’s website to locate the registration instructions for your school. Click on the link in the instructions to go to the website or use the QR code on your phone. This will also allow testing registration to be set up through the year and no other documentation will be needed for continued testing. When you arrive for testing, you will be asked to provide your name and date of birth only. View the dashboard on the District’s website to see the confirmed positive cases in WCCUSD.




When will I receive my child's test results?


Beginning September 13, families will be notfied of results within 15-30 minutes of testing. This will significantly reduce the time to identify a positive test.




Who is testing my child?


Beginning Monday, September 13, the district has partnered with Laboratory Services of America (LSA) to administer weekly rapid COVID-19 tests to students and staff.





Protocol for Positive Test Results

What happens if someone on campus has a positive COVID-19 result?


For the person who has tested positive:

  • If a student produces a positive rapid test, it will be sent to the lab to undergo PCR testing to confirm. If the result remains positive, the parent/guardian, principal and district official will be notified immediately and COVID-19 protocols will begin, including isolation and the immediate pick up of your student.
    This will help the district to maintain an accurate and updated dashboard.
    After quarantining for 10 days, students can return to school with no symptoms.
  • Shortened quarantine can end after day 7, if a diagnostic specimen is collected on Day 5 or later from the date of last exposure and tests negative.
For close contacts of the person who has tested postive:
  • Anytime there is a positive case identified on site, close contacts will quarantine for 10 days. If the close contacts cannot be identified, all students in the class will quarantine for 10 days.
  • A close contact is identified as someone who has been within zero to six feet of the infected person for 15 minutes or more in a 24 hour period (according to CDHP guidance).
From WCCUSD COVID-19 Student and Family Safety Handbook:
  • My child tested positive for COVID-19 but had no symptoms.
    • If your child continues to have no symptoms, they can return to school after 10 days have passed since they had a positive viral test for COVID-19. Retesting is not required and not advised. If your child develops symptoms after testing positive, contact your healthcare provider.
  • My child tested positive for COVID-19 and had symptoms.
    • A child who tested positive for COVID and had symptoms can return to school 10 days after their symptoms first appeared and their symptoms have been improving and they have been fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications.

What happens if the school experiences an outbreak?


From the WCCUSD FAQ Fall Reopening Page

  • If the school is experiencing an outbreak, the COVID Response Team should immediately notify public health officials and collaborate to facilitate increased testing and contact tracing, as necessary. The local health department may facilitate testing for students, teachers, and staff who are in schools with an active outbreak. The health department may also conduct contact tracing in these situations. Schools can assist by providing information, to the extent allowable by privacy laws and other applicable laws, to identify close contacts (e.g., class rosters, seating charts, and student emergency contact information) that could be tested and either isolated or quarantined.
  • Situations that may indicate the need for school closure:
    • Within a 14-day period, an outbreak has occurred in 25% or more stable groups in the school.
    • Within a 14-day period, at least three outbreaks have occurred in the school AND more than 5% of the school population is infected.
    • The LHO may also determine school closure is warranted for other reasons, including results from public health investigation or other local epidemiological data.
  • Length of closure: 14 days, or according to a decision made in consultation with the LHO.
  • Cohorts: Cohorts may be shut down or removed from in-person instruction temporarily after the presence of a positive case for quarantine.
